Brazilian Pastel and beers in 'the city'

25 september 2018 - Cotriguaçu, Brazilië

So this week I’ve been working on my research plan. But on Friday night we went to the city. This is almost an hour drive and the so-called city is very small. It has some shops, a few places where you can get food and a ‘bar’ which is basically a shop with alcohol and a few tables. But we had fun and after a few beers, they even want to try a few English words while trying to teach me some Portuguese. They made me try ‘pastel’ which was very good after those weeks of rice and beans.

On Saturday I went to the field with the drone for the first time, trying to find Harpy Eagle nests. Which wasn’t actually that easy... They nest in the high trees so you would think that those are pretty easy to find but it wasn’t haha. Also, the connection between the drone and the controller doesn’t go far enough. After 300/400 meters it gets really bad, meaning that we cannot go very far into the forest to check for nests.

I’ve been wearing long clothes and high socks to prevent any more bug bites and at least that works (they only eat my hands now). I got a lighter to heat up the itching bug bites (I got this as a tip last week) and the itching is bearable now haha.
